Lightning Platform. Create, target, and report with ease.

Lightning is a cloud based framework that aids development and provides complete visibility on actions performed by your users. Lightning does more than understand the high level demographics of users visiting your product, it creates profiles that tracks actions performed by users and other important data that may need to be tracked against the user. This activity and profile information can be used to further target users during the product lifecycle or have detailed analytics.

Objects loaded from the Object Store are contextually relevant to the user by applying visibility filters and providing copies localized to the user. No need for complicated integrations and digging through mountains of documentation, add actions to your objects and begin seeing how users interact with these objects in minutes. Once integrated, your reports are immediately available in your CMS where you can AdHoc data to find out how specific segments are performing or group your report data by a profile field such as country to answer questions “of my DAU, what are my top 25 countries?”.

We like hearing complicated (and sometimes fun) questions, including “how many females from the US have purchased the purple tractor?”.

Object Store

Whether you are creating weapons for your RPG game, articles for your blogging site, or powerups for your puzzle game, data is rarely the same and is often actionable. The Object Store is your database solution for creating schema for any object type, creating actions to track how users interact with your objects and custom display filters to let you choose who sees the objects.

Schema

Redefining the same fields each time content is created can be cumbersome and some bugs may come as a result of that. Use predefined schemas or create as many as you’d like.

Actionable

Most content is actionable and could have rules to define how the action is performed. The action could be “purchase” for an in game item or “read” for a user reading an article.

Display Filters

Select a criteria that will determine which users sees the content. If users can see the content, choose a criteria that users need to meet to unlock it and interact with it.

Localization

Supporting multiple locales could be difficult, but this is simple. Create objects with multiple language support and the Object Store will handle displaying the appropriate version to the user.

Rob Balahura, J2Play (EA), Vouchr:

I f@!?in wish I’d had Lightning a year ago. But I’m glad I do now.”

Analytics

Analytics should be about understanding where the product is succeeding or failing. We hate seeing products fail, but knowing why will help make decisions to quickly iterate and become successful. Don’t just track the types of users coming to your product, track what users are doing within your product. Know exactly what types of users are performing those actions.

Track Actions

With Object Store user actions are automatically tracked, but if you want to add custom actions, you can generate a new metric and start tracking data in seconds.

Customizable

No two projects are identical and will have different questions that need to be answered. Create reports on any tracked action at various report intervals, including real-time.

AdHoc

Know exactly what types of users are performing what actions within your product. Get answers to questions. Ex: “do females like my new feature more than males?” or “how many level 5 users in my game visit my game each day?”

User Breakdown

Break down report data by user fields, to know who is performing actions. For example, you can find the top 25 countries of your daily active users.

Paul McGrath, CBC:

Lighting allowed us to really engage the audience more deeply than we have before. We’re already thinking about what to do with it next.”

User Profiles

Providing users with a simple and frictionless entry to your product will get you some happy customers. But once the user comes to your product, you want to retain the actions they perform and the information they fill in to provide them with continuity and provide contextually relevant information for the user.

Single Sign On

Most users already have an account with a 3rd party network like Facebook or Twitter. Save users some hassle and allow them to quickly sign up and get started. Users who prefer, can opt for email and password sign up.

Guest Support

Sometimes in order to provide the best possible experience for a user includes allowing them to use your product without registering. Every action the user performs is saved to Lightning and retained once the user signs up.

Profile Fields

No two users are alike and your product may need to define additional user properties. Additional properties could include an in-game screen name, the guild the user is a part of, or even their favorite color.

User Management

A crucial part of managing your product is by providing support. Look up users to update profile fields, balances and validate actions performed. After updating the user’s account, you can contact them to let them know all is good.
